COVID-19 Update - 3/12/2020

Hello EvLL Families,

As you're no doubt aware the COVID-19 outbreak and recommended mitigation steps are affecting our community in unprecedented ways. Yesterday afternoon, the Everett School District announced that, beginning Monday March 16th, all Everett Public Schools will be closed for a minimum of 14 days. Given the current circumstances and recommendations we've revised the league schedule as follows:

  1. Minors and above: Teams will have practice as scheduled. There are no changes to the game schedule at this time.
  2. Rookies & Tee Ball: Due to the vast majority of our practice fields are on ESD property, the start of Rookies and Tee Ball has been postponed until at least after Spring Break. There will be no practices at this time. We may extend seasons until the end of the ESD school year if/when possible.
  3. Team Pictures: All Team Pictures are CANCELED until further notice.
  4. The Batting Cages at both Madison and Garfield are closed to ALL TEAMS until further notice.

I know that some teams hold informal practices at various cages, etc. Please know that if you schedule something like that it is 100% on your own, voluntary for everyone involved, and not covered by our insurance. We're discouraging this for these reasons.

Additionally, we'll take some extra precautions once practice and games begin:

  • Kids are discouraged from sharing equipment. We are working on procuring sanitizer wipes that will be provided for use on catchers gear between catchers.
  • We will suspend pre-game coaches' handshakes and post-game handshakes between members of opposing teams. Instead, staff, players and coaches should use verbal queues, such as saying "good game," without shaking hands, high-fiving or fist-bumping. (cheering for the other team highly encouraged).
  • Wash your hands often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol; this is suggested after any physical contact with another person or with a shared surface.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose - with a tissue, if possible - when coughing or sneezing, then properly discard the tissue in the trash.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone else who is coughing or sneezing or who is otherwise sick.
  • Clean or disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • We will ask that EVERYONE stay home if they exhibit any signs of illness and reiterate that no one will suffer ramifications for staying home.

Of course, this situation is evolving quickly and we'll continue to follow all World Health Organization (WHO) Centers of Disease Control (CDC), & Snohomish Health District recommendations. Things may, and very likely will, change and we're taking steps as they become pertinent. Safety is our #1 priority.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. We're looking forward to a fun, safe, season.
